Introduce

Sofia Johan is Associate Professor of Finance at Florida Atlantic University, USA. She is also affiliated with InnoLab, University of Vaasa and the Tilburg Law and Economics Center (TILEC). She holds a PhD from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and also law degrees from University of Warwick and University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. She has served as the Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division’s Representative at Large since 2021 and is Chair of the Global Scholars Development Committee. She is Co-Editor of Venture Capital: An International Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance and an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Management, British Accounting Review and International Journal of Finance and Economics. Her research is focused on alternative finance (including but not limited to crowdfunding, peer to peer lending and cryptocurrencies) and alternative investments (including but not limited to hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, real estate investment trusts and IPOs). Her research has been published in the Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, American Law and Economics Review, Journal of Financial Economics, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, European Financial Management, and European Economic Review, among other journals. Prof. Johan will join the event in person and deliver a talk in a hybrid session, where both face-to-face and online audiences will have opportunities to ask questions.
